Miscellaneous acoustics components
Holistic building acoustics work, studies & designs involves several disciplines of a project to align together.

1. Environmental
2. Facade
3. Architectural
4. Structural
5. MEP / Vibrations
6. ID (Interior Design)
7. AV Acoustics
8. Room Acoustics

It all starts with how building's external noises can impact the peaceful dwelling & work environment inside the buildings.

Road traffic noise, surrounding sounds, vicinity to a metro lane, speeding boats, bike riders, theme parks, boat jetty, nearby construction site and several other factors can impact the project.

Type and configuration of facade systems play a vital role in mitigating the external noises to some degree. Then comes walls, windows and other architectural components that can influence the acoustics performance for Airborne sound isolation.

Next is the floor/ceiling systems, Lift/Corridor/Stairwells that comes under structural discipline for Impact Sound Insulation.

Another major source of noise is MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and HVAC equipment generated sounds, including flanking of sound through AC ducts, and vibration of heavy equipment.

Noise emission and Vibration control of building services equipment are mandatory aspects by regulatory agencies like Municipality. Interior Decoration (ID) acoustics treatments also play a vital role in terms of ambient sound levels.

Finally, Audio Visual systems need to be cohesively aligned with their acoustics properties around. Otherwise sound will be audible, but not intelligible and pleasing to the audience. Wall panels, ceiling materials and several other factors when synchronized with the AV systems, the results will be pleasant audio user experiences.

Careful design inputs and acoustics treatments on each of the above trades can significantly increase the desirable sound intelligibility & noise criteria levels of projects.

Frontiers with a wealth of acoustics design and project management experience can advise and design any sort of project that are complexed as well as of any size.
